From inception in 1999, we have progressively grown as a home – both in the numbers of children that we are caring for and in the range of situations that the children have come to us with, for example:
A little girl – a failed abortion at 7 months with severe brain damage.
A boy – born infected with TB.
A boy – chronic lung disease.
A 2-year-old girl – full-blown AIDS.
A boy – born with one functioning kidney.
A girl – HIV positive – failed to thrive.
Many of the babies brought to Miracle Mission are found abandoned in heartbreaking and dangerous circumstances, often left in places no child should ever be. A large number of these little ones are newborns or preterm babies, making them especially fragile and in urgent need of specialised care.
Because of the nursing background of our Manager, Cindy Sproat, we are able to provide immediate, professional medical attention to each baby. This early care is absolutely critical to give them the best possible chance to survive and thrive.
While some babies arrive with serious health conditions and, sadly, a few are too frail to make it, many recover beautifully under our care. Once healthy and ready, these children are placed for adoption, and we have been privileged to witness countless successful adoptions – both within South Africa and internationally, giving each child the loving family they deserve.
We cannot do great things, but we can do small things with great love.
