From inception in 1999, we have progressively grown as a home – both in the numbers of children that we are caring for and in the range of situations that the children have come to us with, for example:

  • A little girl – a failed abortion at 7 months with severe brain damage.

  • A boy – born infected with TB.

  • A boy – chronic lung disease.

  • A 2-year-old girl – full-blown AIDS.

  • A boy – born with one functioning kidney.

  • A girl – HIV positive – failed to thrive.

Most of the children are abandoned in very dire circumstances. Most of them are newborns and are therefore very vulnerable – the initial care that is given to them is critical to ensure their ability to be able to thrive. A number of them are also very ill with various conditions and because of the nursing background of the Manager (Cindy Sproat) we have been very diligent in ensuring that the best possible treatment is offered to these babies. Most times with very positive results but unfortunately in some situations, the babies are just too ill or frail to survive. The children that are healthy are available to be adopted and we have been part of some
very successful adoptions – both locally and abroad.

We cannot do great things, but we can do small things with great love.
